I’ve played through Bayonetta multiple times, and earning halos (the in-game currency) quickly and early can make a big difference. Thankfully, there is a quick and easy way to earn halos early on in Bayonetta 1.

To earn halos quickly and early in Bayonetta, first reach Chapter 1 “The Angel’s Metropolis”. Select the mission, jump on top of the train, double jump to the second floor, and destroy all 20 benches. Jump back on top of the train and ride it until the screen fades. When you reappear, you will have earned 10,000 halos.

This method can be done in approximately one minute which means you can earn around 50,000 halos every 5 minutes and about 100,000 halos every 10 minutes. Ridiculous!

Now, let’s take a step-by-step detailed look at how to go about earning halos quickly and early in Bayonetta in this picture guide.

How To Earn Halos Fast And Early In Bayonetta 1

Earning halos fast and early on in Bayonetta 1 requires you to reach Chapter 1 “The Angel’s Metropolis”. This is really early in the game and simply requires you to complete the opening tutorial area, “The Witch Hunts”, along with the prologue, “The Vestibule”. Chapter 1 is unlocked once these two areas are completed.

Additionally, only basic Bayonetta skills are required to obtain approximately 10,000 halos every minute.

Basic understanding of how to jump, double jump, and shoot is needed–nothing more and nothing less.

  • TIME: a minute or two
  • DIFFICULTY: Low

NOTE: Bayonetta is available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii U, Xbox, and Steam PC among other platforms.

1) Select Chapter 1 “The Angel’s Metropolis” From The Chapter Menu

Select Chapter 1 from the Chapter Select menu.

Highlight “Start” and press the “Ok” button to load the chapter.

Feel free to skip the cinematic if you have already watched it in order to speed up the process.

2) Jump On Top Of The Train

Jump onto the train to the right of your starting point.

You’ll need to get to higher ground so getting on top of the train is a necessity.

3) Double Jump To The Second Floor

Double jump from the top of the train to the second floor ledge closest to you (the ledge directly above your starting position).

Jump again once you land on the narrow ledge to prevent yourself from falling and to maneuver onto the second floor walkway.

4) Destroy All 10 Benches

Destroy all 10 benches lined up against the wall.

The fastest and easiest way to do this is by running along the walkway and holding down the fire button.

Bayonetta will lock onto each bench as she approaches, shooting it and destroying each in seconds.

Occasionally, a citizen of the area may get in the way and activate a text message since the “chat” and “shoot” commands are controlled by the same button.

Feel free to use a standard kick or punch if a citizen is in the way to expedite the process.

5) Destroy All 10 Benches On The Opposite Side

Run to the opposite side of the second floor and destroy all 10 benches in the same fashion as done previously.

The sound of the train beginning to take off will occur the moment all 20 benches are destroyed.

6) Jump Back On Top Of The Train

Quickly double jump from the second floor back on to the top of the now moving train.

You’ll have a couple of seconds of leeway in case you miss the jump and land on next to it.

Don’t panic and do your best to double jump onto the train as it leaves.

Feel free to redo the mission if the train leaves without you.

7) Ride The Train Until The Screen Fades Black

Stay on top of the train as it enters the tunnel.

The screen will turn to black shortly.

8) Obtain 10,000 Halos

Once Bayonetta reappears, she will be back at the starting point of the level.

10,000 halos will be added to your total currency automatically.

9) Repeat Process For Infinite Halos

Repeat this process to earn as many halos as you need.

Simply press the pause button, select “Chapter Menu”, and press the OK button to exit Chapter 1 and return to the Chapter Select Menu to restart the process.

What Should You Do With All Of Your Halos In Bayonetta?

Bayonetta players should spend halos on buying the most beneficial techniques, weapons, accessories, and power-ups the game has to offer.

Visit Rodin’s shop, The Gates of Hell, in order to do so and focus on buying items that have Rodin’s face and the word “HOT!” next to them.

Check out this quick Bayonetta guide if you need help accessing the game’s shop.

I recommend spending halos on a handful of selections when first starting out:

Air Dodge (Technique) | 10,000 halos

  • This allows you to dodge in the air which will be essential throughout the game

Bat Within (Technique) | 30,000 halos

  • This allows you to reduce damage received, keeping you alive in the heat of battle

Witch Heart (Item) | 30,000 halos

  • This item permanently increases the health gauge and can be bought multiple times to continue doing so

Moon Pearl (Item) 30,000 halos

  • This item permanently increases the magic gauge and can be bought multiple times to continue doing so

Once you are done focusing on these items, focus on buying Bayonetta’s arsenal of techniques to expand her array of offensive and defensive maneuvers.

Fighting enemies will be much easier and less dull with an additional dozen moves at your disposal.
