Throwing a fireball at an opponent or watching a huge truck in the background jump a sand ramp in the desert over your player’s head creates a dynamic atmosphere that helps the 2D action pop off the screen.

Additionally, the game’s handful of songs are upbeat, catchy, and fit with the epic street fighting that is occurring while you play. It’s hard not to hum these tunes.

In fact, I’m still humming them 20+ years later.

In total, Capcom VS SNK 2 takes between 1 and 20 hours to beat. This is dependent on how many times a person beats the Arcade mode or strives for the highest score in Survival mode. Multiplayer minded gamers may spend hundreds of hours in Versus mode over the span of many years playing this game.

  • Average play time: 1-20 hours+
  • Competitive play time: 50-100+ hours

Each full Arcade playthrough can take upwards to 20 minutes. More time will be required if a player loses matches and has to restart the bout.

And playing Arcade mode with a higher difficulty setting will most likely lead to multiple attempts at a single playthrough.

Many hours can also be spent simply learning each of the dozens of characters move sets in Training mode. This is something any new player should consider when figuring out how much time they’ll be spending with this fighting game.

Finally, Versus matches have a countdown timer that lasts a few minutes each round, limiting the match length. That timer, however, can also be turned off. Versus matches can go by pretty quickly or last a while depending on your play group’s suggested settings.

Change difficulty and match length options by visiting the game’s settings from the main menu.

Doing so will ensure your play sessions will last the correct amount of time you intend to spend to truly maximize your enjoyment.

There are 4 game modes included in Capcom VS SNK 2: Arcade, Survival, Versus, and Training

Capcom VS SNK 2: Arcade Mode Explained

Arcade mode focuses on fighting character after character in  a series of battles until the player loses and decided to give up or reaches and defeats the final boss. This is a great starting place for single players to experience this game’s mechanics.

Consider upping the difficulty in the settings for a greater challenge.

Capcom VS SNK 2: Survival Mode Explained

Survival mode forces the player to stick with a single team and single life bar that replenishes just a bit between battles. The goal is to see how many matches you can win before your health bar is completely depleted.

Go for your personal best and see how many rounds you can last or check out Survival leaderboards online and try to top them.

Capcom VS SNK 2: Versus Mode Explained

Versus mode allows 2 human players to select a team of fighters and fight each other until one player stands as the victor. Use attacks and special moves, personal skill, and battle strategy to deplete the opposing player’s life bar.

The bulk of the game’s replay value and time spent is in Versus mode. Create lasting memories with friends and family by battling for bragging rights as your favorite Capcom and SNK fighters.

Capcom VS SNK 2: Training Mode Explained

Lastly, Training mode provides a relaxed environment to learn the vast roster’s move sets by pitting you against a non-threatening computer character.

The computer “dummy” stands still as you perform combo attacks and figure out how to perform special moves unique to your character.

Definitely play all 4 game modes in Capcom VS SNK 2 to get the most fun out of this classic fighting game.

Will There Be A Capcom VS SNK 3?

Capcom VS SNK 2 (EO)

At the present, Capcom VS SNK 3 has not been announced by Capcom or SNK and will not be coming anytime soon since games typically take at least 2 to 3 years to develop. Crossover games tend to take even longer as more companies are involved in the decision-making process.

Capcom VS SNK 3 has not been announced by Capcom or SNK

Since Capcom VS SNK 3 has yet to be announced and may never happen, I suggest playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch for the time being.

This fun crossover party-fighting game made by Nintendo includes Capcom and SNK guest characters. Ken and Ryu from Capcom’s Street Fighter series are playable as well as SNK’s Terry from Fatal Fury. All three characters have appeared in Capcom VS SNK 2 and can once again battle head-on.

Playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the closest to Capcom VS SNK 3 we currently have available to us so why not enjoy it.

The ultimate party fighter also allows you to pit Mario versus Sonic, Bowser versus Ganon, Princess Peach versus Princess Zelda, and Link versus Cloud in crazy epic crossover bouts.
