How To Upgrade Held Items In Pokémon Unite
Pokémon Unite Held Items can be easily upgraded by navigating to the options page from the main menu and then selecting the “Held Items” sub-menu. Select the “Give Item” choice, choose your Pokémon, and select the equipped Held Item you wish to upgrade.
Upgrading Held Items in Pokémon Unite provides your Pokémon with enhanced battle benefits, from increased attack and defense to faster movements speed and more.
Equipping an upgraded Held Item will give you a competitive advantage over players who have not upgraded their Held Items.
Thankfully, upgrading Pokémon Held Items is an easy process that only takes a few minutes.

NOTE: You must have Item Enhancers to upgrade Held Items.
1) Navigate To Pokémon Unite’s Main Menu

Navigate to Pokémon Unite’s main menu.
This is the menu that showcases your Trainer and favorite Pokémon. It’s the central hub of the game.
2) Open The Options Menu
Locate your profile icon in the top left corner of the screen.
Press the ZL button/tap your profile icon to open the options menu.
3) Select The “Held Items” Option From The List
Navigate to the Held Items button from the list of options.
Press A/tap the button to open the Held Items menu.
4) Select The “Give Items” Option From Menu
Highlight Give Items tab.
Press A/tap to navigate to Held Item selection.
5) Select A Pokémon
Change the Pokémon you want to give a Held Item to by pressing X.
Select a Pokémon you want to equip Held Items to, and then press A to return to the Held Item selection screen.
NOTE: Your favorite Pokémon will be shown by default.
6) Highlight The Held Item You Want Upgraded
Highlight a Held Item space that is occupied by a Held Item.
Press A/tap to open a sub menu.
7) Select The “Upgrade” Option From The Sub-Menu
Highlight the Upgrade button.
Press A/tap to be taken to the Held Item upgrade screen.
8) Upgrade The Held Item By Selecting The “Upgrade” Button
Select the Upgrade button once more.
You can view the added benefits the upgrade will provide on this screen.
The amount of Item Enhancers required to complete the upgrade will also be shown above the Upgrade button.
Press A/tap to upgrade the Held Item one time. Repeat for additional upgrades.
NOTE: You can only upgrade if you have the required amount of Item Enhancers needed for the upgrade.
9) Play A Match With Your Upgraded Held Items
You successfully upgraded your Pokémon Held Item in Pokémon Unite. Now, play many Unite Battles to see just how strong you are with your newly upgraded items.
Repeat this process to upgrade additional Held Items in Pokémon Unite.
What Are Pokémon Unite Held Items?
Held Items in Pokémon Unite are items given to Pokémon to hold in battle that augments their offensive and defensive stats. A Held Item provides passive benefits to the Pokémon holding it for the length of a Unite Battle–simply equip a Held Item before battle and you’re set.
Once a Held Item is equipped to a Pokémon in Pokémon Unite, its benefits will automatically happen without you needing to do anything else.

Keep in mind some Held Items need a specific situation to happen before its powers turn on such as you being out of combat or when a goal is scored.
Even then, the Held Item will activate without you needing to press a button.
Pokémon Unite Held Items provide passive benefits that will take your matches to the next level with minimal effort on your end. Never head into battle without a Held Item or three equipped.
Why Upgrade Held Items In Pokémon Unite?
Upgrading Pokémon Unite Held Items provides Pokémon with a greater competitive advantage during Unite Battles. That is to say, Pokémon holding upgraded Held Items will be stronger than the same Pokémon holding identical non-upgraded items. This gives upgraded item holders a boosted chance at winning duels and Unite Battles.
For example, the Muscle Band increases a Pokémon’s attack damage and quickens the monster’s basic attack speed.
Pokémon holding upgraded Held Items will be stronger than the same Pokémon holding identical non-upgraded items
A Pokémon equipped with an upgraded Muscle Band will most-likely win a battle against the same Pokémon holding a standard Muscle Band (all things equal).
This gulf between Pokémon strengths only grows larger as the Held Items gets upgraded to its maximum level of 30.
I highly suggest equipping and upgrading your held items before starting a new Untie Battle to increase your chances of winning the match.

Is Upgrading Held Items In Pokémon Unite Free To Do?
Upgrading Pokémon Unite Held Items is free to do and does not cost any real money. However, upgrading Held Items does require an in-game item called an Item Enhancer. These are usable items that are earned by playing the game and are removed from your inventory during the Held Item upgrade process.
Item Enhancers can be received in many ways:
- purchased from the Item Shop with Aeos tickets
- acquired from completing Events and Challenges
- obtained from Battle Pass reward tiers
- and gifted in a few other ways by playing the game
